Winter Care for Lithium Batteries – The Most Important Recommendations
During the winter months, it is important to take special care of your lithium batteries to ensure they deliver full performance when needed. Whether your electric carts are out of service in winter or simply used less frequently, here are some tips to extend the life of your lithium battery:
- If your battery will not be used for an extended period, fully charge it before storage. Completely disconnect the battery from all chargers and recharge it before next use.
- Never leave a battery connected to a charger overnight or for extended periods unattended.
- Lithium batteries should be stored on a dry, non-carpeted surface.
- Lithium batteries should be stored above 10°C (50°F).
- Lithium batteries should not be stored for more than 2 months without topping up the charge.
- If you have a fleet of carts, make sure the batteries are rotated in use.
- Never charge lithium batteries longer than necessary.
